It is often said that the past is behind us and should remain there. However, whether we like it or not, the past influences both the present and the future. With this in mind, as 2024 began, I realized that moving forward required revisiting a place that expanded my musical horizons and brought me immense joy and fulfilment: Bari, a coastal city in Puglia, Southern Italy, where I recorded my first two albums, "Mulheres" and "Menescantando", over a decade ago.

Indeed, I did! In February, I returned to Bari and reconnected with old friends to move forward with renewed energy. This is how the “Bari sessions” came to life! The first recording session occurred on February 16, 2024, with an incredible group of Italian musician friends who share my passion for Brazilian music and with whom I had lost contact: (from left to right in the photo) Marco Giuliani on guitar, Fabio Delle Foglie on drums, Bruno Montrone on piano, and Nico Catacchio on double bass.

Amidst life's ever-changing landscape, certain treasures from our past continue to hold significant value. Rekindled friendships can provide a sense of comfort and familiarity that is often hard to find in new relationships. These connections, built on shared memories and experiences, can be a source of strength and support as we face new challenges in life. The laughter, understanding, and camaraderie shared with old friends can rejuvenate our spirits and remind us of who we are at our core, grounding us even as we evolve. And, above all, the power of great music can never be underestimated.

In conclusion, while some elements of our past may no longer fit into the fabric of our present lives, the essence of rekindled friendships, the joy of great music, and the uplifting nature of positive vibes remain timeless. These aspects not only enrich our current experiences but also pave the way for a more fulfilling future, reminding us that there is always value in revisiting what once brought us joy!

So check out the video of the 1st session with the song "Nós os foliões" (by Sidney Miller) recorded at MAST Recording studio led by Massimo Stano (an outstanding sound engineer by the way!) and stay tuned!! I'll be back in Bari in May for the next session...
